4 Out of 10
OK – the weekend has come and gone and I must confess I only got 4 of my 10 projects finished: planting the petunias, weed eating of yard (OK – only part of it), planted the herbs in the herb boxes on my back porch (cilantro and garlic chives), and rested (does that even count?). I suppose I would have gotten more done IF I had NOT gone to my ‘favorite’ auction on Saturday.
Lots of people there but I did manage to get a couple of what I think are jewels. Two very old, oak chairs that I will refinish and put cane seats in. Very time consuming to do the weaving but well worth it. And, a beautiful oak buffet top – in need of refinishing and some minor repair. But it has 3 large beveled mirrors, barley twist pedestals and some exquisite carving. Guess I can add that to my list of things to do. Now all I need to do is plan a trip to Bryan-College Station to get all the goodies I will need to get things finished. Once I get all the stuff together, I’ll take you step-by-step through refinishing an antique piece.

Jan, I’m really enjoying your articles. I feel we have a lot in common. Also enjoy David’s great photos. The two oak chairs are a real example of his talent to stage an eye catching picture. What a pair you two make! Nancy
Thanks Nancy! I can’t wait to get started on those chairs – but who would have thought I’d have a little problem finding the materials to finish the seats!
